ME Hotel Barcelona

The Brief:

To find a European hotel that would suit the brand's edgy image and to provide full event management. The event was held over four days with two groups back to back. Two external gala dinner venues were also required.

Challenges:

Finding a venue in Europe that suited the company's brand. The hotel had to be modern, funky and edgy. All aspects of the programme had to fit this brief as well, right down to the type of food served and the gala dinner venues, all for a fairly limited budget.

Solution:

The Hotel ME Barcelona suited the company's image perfectly being a style-savvy, contemporary and funky hotel. Their rates were very reasonable on bedrooms but a lot of negotiating had to be done on food and beverage but this was successfully negotiated down to meet the client's budget. The hotel had a large, modern meeting room that could hold their numbers in classroom style perfectly and having taken most of the bedrooms in the hotel, the client had run of the house of most of the hotel, adding to the exclusiveness of it. The client used several other function rooms for evening activities. The farewell gala dinner took place in the beautiful surroundings of traditional Spanish villa Torre de los Leones, providing the perfect backdrop for their Spanish Fiesta themed party. A relaxed, more informal dinner was held at fish restaurant Barceloneta, located on the marina, at the end of the week.

Execution:

The event kicked off with a welcome drinks reception in the fashionable Angels & Kings Bar in the hotel, where cocktails and canapés were served. The next day started with the main meeting in the morning and a team-building event around the city in the afternoon. Guests were then transferred to Torre de los Leones for the farewell party.

Further meetings and another team building activity followed for the rest of the week, with breakout space required on the last two days. A dinner was served in the hotel's stylish Sky Food Restaurant serving modern international cuisine and the last night saw guests at the fish restaurant Barceloneta.
