The capital Helsinki is more modern and efficient than the vast wilderness that surrounds it in the north and east. It's a sea-town, yet has the infrastructure, technology and facilities necessary for meetings, conventions and conferences. Glorious Art Nouveau buildings and quirky museums give Helskinki a cultural feel even though it is quite chic. Many of the central hotels are geared specifically towards conference groups, with some options slightly out of town with facilities for up to 500. Beyond the capital, the most popular destinations for incentive trips are Lapland, Kuusamo and the lakeland around Kuopio.
Lapland extends for hundreds of miles above the Arctic Circle and the landscape is a natural playground for every imaginable winter activity. There is a sense of mystique in the peak of winter with the blue dusk of the evenings as the northern lights cross the sky in green waves. Lapland offers accommodation in first-class conference hotels, log villas, cozy cabins or a night in an igloo; which is an experience not easily forgotten!
Regardless of the time of year, there's an abundance of activities on offer. The endless days of summer are when Finland bursts into life, and these are best enjoyed by heading to the lakelands and trekking amongst the pines or watching the sun setting over the trees. For those seeking action packed adventure you can try your hand at whitewater rafting, fly fishing or gold-panning. And of-course lets not forget the endless nights of winter where you can take part in skiing, trek across the snowy wastes, go on a husky safari, ride a snowmobile or enjoy a traditional reindeer-driven sled ride.
Finland is a superb conference and incentive destination as it offers beautiful scenery, friendly people and efficient service. As it's easily accessible from anywhere in the world the only limitation here is your budget!
